Sesame Street Live

Today was our trip to sesame street live. Linda has such a good time last year, we knew we would be going again this year. And it did not disappoint! In the very beginning she was concerned the music would be too loud, so she had her hands over her ears. That subsided quickly. Make sure you are sure to watch the video where they are doing the hula dance. Linda does not want to do the dance in the beginning, but don't turn it off just yet....daddy gets involved....lol..... enjoy!

My kid is really cool

Can I just say that I absolutely adore my child? and that I feel so enormously blessed to be able to stay home w/her? She really is a cool kid. Today was just one of those days you look back on and realize how blessed you are. She is so kind (most of the time, lol) and is really blossoming into a nice little girl. We were at dinner and she was eating some baked chicken thigh. She picked up the whole thing and started eating it. Well it completely reminded me of my mother. My mother could really tear into a piece of chicken. I said to Linda, "You really remind me of your Grandma McGuire sometimes." Linda said spontaneously, "I love her." Of course the tears began to flow. Linda asked why I was crying, so I told her. She was just being so sensitive. Then she says to me, "I really have enjoyed this dinner." It was so cute. I could tell she enjoyed it b/c she ate and ate and ate! It is just so cute the way her little brain works. she also asked me at dinner out of the blue what ostriches like to eat. I told her I didn't know, and that we would look it up after dinner. So we did. In case you were wondering, ostriches like to eat mainly plants, but occasionally they will eat a small animal. They also eat sand. Linda told me when she sees an ostrich, she will give them some sand. We were working on our reading tonight as well. It is amazing to see how far she has come w/her reading! One place she likes to go to read is online at starfall.com. One book we were working on tonight is toward the bottom of the page (they get harder the farther down the page) It is called My Horse Glory. I really thought it would be too hard for her, but she wanted to try it. We didn't get all the way thru, but this is what we read in the book. She did need some help w/words in this book. I'll put a * after any words she needed help with. here it is as far as we got: My name is Tory*. I live on a farm. I have a horse. Her name is Glory* (the y at the end of Tory and Glory messed her up). Glory plays in her corral*. I forgot to close the gate and Glory got out*. I had to find her! that is as far as we got in that book. I peeked ahead and saw the rest of the book. She will need help w/some of the other words too. I guess that is all I have to say about her tonight. It was just one of those nights where you really realize you have a very special little girl! P.S. I tried to separate this post into paragraphs, but blogspot wouldn't let me, so sorry about that if you read all the way to the end!

Park Program

The last of the park programs for the fall. It was about nocturnal animals. The kids loved it!

isn't she cute?

Just a couple cute pics and a cute video of Linda and Ryleigh. Tom scares them in the truck. They love it when he does that! Linda saw I was going roller skating, and she wanted to get her skates on too...so cute!

Pumpkin Carving

We had a little pumpkin carving party last night along w/a pot luck. It was so much fun. It started to sprinkle at 4pm when it was starting, but it held off for us and we had a blast! After dinner we roasted marshmellows for smores. That was a big hit!

Park Program

We did another park program w/parks and rec. It's amazing to see how little people take advantage of these programs. They are great. There is so much to do w/the city.

Today's program was a bike program thru a natural area. It was fun. They rode bikes some, and got off and explored a lot too. Linda found lots of bugs and caterpillars, right up her alley!

The Gardens

A day at the gardens, w/o the camera!! Argh,,,so I had to use my camera phone. the quality is poor on the pics and videos, but at least I have them. It was a special treat today b/c daddy came w/us. thanks to him for transfering these pictures to the blog, as he usually does.

Linda is holding a giant grasshopper in one picture. I wasn't sure this thing was a grasshopper, or something mutant, lol. It was huge.

The video of Tom scaring Linda is cute too. It's the new game that Tom, Linda and Ryleigh play. The girls love it.

The weather was STUNNING today, so it was perfect!

park program

After the farm we headed to the park for our program. Today's topic was turtles. They learned all about turtles, and saw about 5 different types of turtles. They also did a cute craft. Once again the city did a nice job presenting a fun activity for us. The video is a little game the kids were playing. You dropped the dice and how ever many turtles are on the dice is how many turtles you take from the nest to the pond.

Farm

We went to the local farm this morning to their fall activities. Linda had a great time. Couple cute pics of Ryleigh and Jack too.

I love the picture of Linda holding the chicken. They closed the chicken coop b/c of the volume of children at the farm. So Linda went in w/the goats and there were a couple chickens in there. Leave it to Linda to get a chicken, even if she couldn't get in the chicken coop. She is definitely a 4Her in training!!!!!!!!!!!

Fall Festival

We went to the local farmers market for a fall festival. The weather was a little chilly, and it was unsure if it would rain. But it held off, and they went ahead and had the festival. I am so glad we went. Linda's highlight of the morning was the baby ducklings/chics that she got to hold. She really enjoyed that. She also enjoyed her pony ride. I felt somewhat bad for her b/c I said no to bouncing and face painting b/c it was so expensive! I thought the pony ride was expensive too, but I knew it was something she would really enjoy.

Notice the one picture of her holding up her thumb near the bees. I took a picture of her right after she got stung by one of the bees. all she said was, "ow." It was cute. The beekeepers were somewhat worried about it, probably b/c they thought I might freak out, lol. but I didn't care if she got stung, as she is not allergic. Believe me, she has had worse happen, w/her love of bugs. There was just one little square screen where some of the bees were peeking thru. Forwhatever reason she stuck her hand up to it. She is very good in nature about not touching bees or spiders. In fact I have never seen her try to touch a bee or spider. She is my little trooper.
